Unfortunately we lost to Weidlinger Associates 15 – 12 after coming back from an 8 – 0 first inning.

We played with 9 players, 1 short, in the freezing cold weather, but we’re tough!! We hung in there.

Coach (Tom Russell) was 4 for 5, one being a triple. But the best play there was when he did the somersault over home plate. I don’t know how he didn’t break anything. Worth the pain though, he was safe! Brett went 3 for 4, 3 runs scored!! This one I’m proud of, I had two RBI’s with my walks. Like the coach says “the walk will score a run as well as a hit.

Nate pitched for us and what a job…..5 strikeouts. Alright Nate!!! But by far his best performance was when the line drive hit his knee (ouch) and Nate turned his knee in the right direction to make the ball roll to first base so Doreen could make the out. And speaking of Doreen, I have never seen a first baseman (baseperson) better than her. If the ball isn’t 5 feet over her head, she will get the out!! Doreen you make us proud!

All of our women scored or got an RBI. Who thought we couldn’t help the team. I think next year the women will play better than the men.

Debra was the catcher. This was her first time catching. I think she enjoyed it. She did a great job behind the plate and getting the ball back to Nate. Debra found out that you do need the face mask and she’s glad she had hers on.

Carly played right field, Brett played left, George in center, Keith on 3rd and Coach was SS. I played second and Doreen on first.

Now the MVP for the week is going to the one and only…….George Karolis (aka Sunshine) Congratulations!!! George did a great job playing center field and making catches that should have gone over his head. And he did a good job avoiding the collision with Brett for one of the fly balls. George went 2 for 3 with a walk.

Until next week, this is Kim from ABG sports signing off……….
